About
Dr Catherine Hahn is an artist, social researcher and lecturer. She is currently doing research at Goldsmiths with Migrant Futures and working on Queer Along the River. She has taught extensively in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths and Art History at Kent and is an alumnus of The Slade and Michaelis Fine Art schools. Her PhD is on the Iziko South African National Gallery: The Political House of Art (2016).
Catherine uses free-hand ink drawing and mapping as revelatory praxis to challenge reductive history-telling, build intimate relationships with the past and surface activism. Drawing Out includes the Queer Along the River project, museum detours, collaborations and links to publications and resources. Catherine’s methodology weaves writing, drawing and mapping. Through mixed-methods and creative research she identifies obstacles to equality and explores possibilities beyond master narratives and binaries.
